Littleton Public Library Welcomes Summer With Art and Ukuleles

LITTLETON, New Hampshire—The Littleton Public Library is more than a quiet place for reading—it is a hub of creativity, learning, and local history. As summer begins, the library’s programming lineup is already in full bloom, offering something for every age group and interest—from puzzle competitions and rocket building to puppet shows, music lessons, and historic image archives.


Located at 92 Main Street, this Carnegie Library, established in 1906 with a $15,000 grant from Andrew Carnegie, continues to evolve with the times—while remaining a cornerstone of community connection.


UPCOMING EVENTS


PAINT WITH FRIENDS: BUTTERFLIES
On June 18, the adult program Paint With Friends returns with a guided painting session themed around butterflies. The class is free, materials are provided, and space is limited to just eight participants. Interested residents can register here: https://forms.gle/jS7RRJ4ThggcbeV19


TEAM JIGSAW PUZZLE COMPETITION
On June 24 at 5:30 PM, the library will host its first-ever Team Jigsaw Puzzle Competition. Teams of four are invited to take part in a friendly evening of “speed puzzling,” with light refreshments served. To reserve a puzzle for your team: https://forms.gle/Q4hUmHGUTLMsbz3K7


PUPPET MAKING WITH SANDGLASS THEATER
On June 25, the renowned Sandglass Theater brings puppet-making to Littleton. After a morning show at the Opera House (10:00–11:00 AM), kids can dive into hands-on sessions:

⇨ 4th–6th Grade: 2:30–3:30 PM (Flipjack Puppets on Chopsticks)

WMSI FAMILY TINKER TIME
On July 10, the White Mountain Science Inc. (WMSI) returns with their “Family Tinker Time” program for grades 3–6 at Remich Park Pavilion (10:00–11:30 AM). Participants will build their own rockets and explore the basics of propulsion through hands-on fun. SUMMER STRUMMERS: BEGINNER UKELE CLASS
Also beginning July 10, rising 3rd–6th graders can join a five-week ukulele class every Thursday from 12:30–1:30 PM through August 7. Instruments will be provided, or participants may bring their own. Free registration is now open: https://forms.gle/fHQwCX1c3km9ypqD9

🔹Historic archives including the Kilburn Stereoview Image Archive and digitized editions of the Littleton Courier (1889–1929).

All passes are available thanks to the Friends of the Library.


LIBRARY CARDS & BORROWING
Library cards are free for Littleton residents (ages 6 and up) with proof of address. Non-resident cards are available for $45 annually. Most materials check out for three weeks and can be renewed unless on hold. DVDs circulate for one week.
